The diagnostic challenges and two-step surgical approach to an infected dentigerous cyst resembling a unicystic ameloblastoma: A case report

Background: A dentigerous cyst is the second-most frequently observed odontogenic cyst, and an ameloblastoma one of most tumors. Both are mostly associated with impacted mandibular third molar have similar characteristics. Diagnostic difficulties often result in misdiagnosis remain a challenge to overcome. Comprehensive clinical, radiographic, histopathological views essential correctly diagnose problem formulate suitable treatment plan. Purpose: This case report aims present thorough approach diagnostic surgical procedures involved treating that resembles by using marsupialization followed enucleation. Case: article presents 27-year-old male patient infected resembling unicystic totally lower left molar. The had history swelling, pain, pus drainage retromolar area. Symptoms subsided after antibiotic analgesic prescriptions, but lesion remained was slowly progressing. began fine-needle aspiration biopsy, confirmed benign cystic suspected be tumor. Then incisional biopsy conducted under local anesthesia, diagnosing cyst. Case Management: Marsupialization decompression obturator preferred, Nine months later, radiographic examination revealed satisfactory bone regeneration without recurrence.
